Apple Fitness+ arrives in India on December 15 with new workouts, music and expanded features

Apple has announced that its fitness and wellness subscription service, Apple Fitness+, will officially debut in India on December 15. This introduction marks the most significant global expansion of the platform since its inception five years ago, broadening its reach to a total of 49 countries and regions. Jay Blahnik, Apple’s vice president of Fitness Technologies, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "Through its seamless integration across Apple devices, Fitness+ has inspired users to adopt healthier lifestyles." He highlighted the advantages of real-time metrics displayed on devices like the Apple Watch and AirPods Pro 3, emphasizing how these features enhance motivation and user experience. Apple Fitness+ features a diverse range of 12 workout types, including Strength, Yoga, Pilates, HIIT, Dance, Kickboxing, Cycling, and Meditation. Workouts vary in length from five to 45 minutes and can be accessed via iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Users are encouraged to connect their Apple Watch to track vital statistics, such as heart rate and calories burned, in real-time. Additionally, AirPods Pro 3 users will have the ability to view personalized workout data during their sessions. A key highlight of the service is the Custom Plans feature, which generates tailored weekly workout schedules based on individual preferences for activities, trainers, and music. Apple is also expanding its music offerings by introducing a new K-pop category, alongside existing genres such as Hip-Hop and Upbeat Anthems. The Artist Spotlight series will continue, featuring playlists from prominent artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, BTS, and Coldplay. Moreover, Apple’s Time to Walk audio series will introduce a new episode featuring Formula 1 driver Yuki Tsunoda, adding to a list of notable guests including Cynthia Erivo and Jane Fonda. Users can also look forward to themed collections of workouts and meditations, covering categories like Run Your First 5K and No Shoes Workouts, along with a meditation library that offers guidance on themes such as Calm and Sleep. In India, Apple Fitness+ will be available for Rs 149 per month or Rs 999 per year, with the option to share the subscription with up to five family members. The service is already accessible in several countries, including the US, UK, and Australia, and will soon expand to markets like Singapore and the Netherlands. Customers who purchase new Apple devices will receive a complimentary three-month subscription to Fitness+.
