Apple finally lets users tone down Liquid Glass with latest iOS 26 update

Apple is responding to user feedback regarding its controversial Liquid Glass design, introduced in iOS 26. While many users embraced the fresh interface, others reported challenges such as legibility issues and eye strain. The tech giant has rolled out a new feature in the iOS 26.1 Beta 4, allowing users to tailor their Liquid Glass experience. By navigating to Settings, users can now select between ‘Clear’ or ‘Tinted’ transparency options. The Clear setting preserves the original transparency, while the Tinted option enhances opacity and contrast, making interface elements more readable. To access the new settings, users should ensure they have updated to the latest beta version. Simply head to Settings on their iPhone, tap Display & Brightness, and then select Liquid Glass to find the new transparency choices. For those interested in trying out the beta version, they can sign up at beta.apple.com and follow the steps to navigate to Settings > General > Software Update > Beta Updates, selecting the iOS 26 Public Beta. In addition to the Liquid Glass customization, iOS 26.1 Beta 4 introduces a feature that allows users to disable the camera access from the lock screen, enhancing privacy by preventing unauthorized snapshots. The forthcoming stable release of iOS 26.1 will also expand Apple Intelligence support to several new languages, including Danish, Dutch, Norwegian, Portuguese (Portugal), Swedish, Turkish, Traditional Chinese, and Vietnamese. Additionally, the Live Translation functionality on AirPods will now support Japanese, Korean, Italian, and both Mandarin and Simplified Chinese. Stay tuned for the stable iOS 26.1 update, which promises to enhance user experience significantly.
