Apple has unveiled a refreshed version of the iPad Air, introducing the powerful M4 chip to enhance its performance. While the new device retains much of the familiar design of its predecessor, it notably increases RAM from 8GB to 12GB. This upgrade will greatly benefit users looking to take full advantage of iPadOS 26’s multi-window multitasking capabilities. The iPad Air continues to be available in both 11-inch and 13-inch models, with starting prices set at $599 and $799, respectively. However, potential buyers may find the base storage of 128GB a bit limiting, especially with the growing demands of modern applications. For those requiring more space, Apple offers storage options of 256GB for an additional $100, 512GB for $300 more, and a hefty 1TB option for an extra $500. Pre-orders for the updated iPad Air will commence on March 4, with an official release date set for March 11. In terms of design, the M4 version remains consistent with the M2 and M3 models released in previous years. It's important to note that while the M2 brought some updates, it also requires users to switch to the Apple Pencil Pro, making it incompatible with the previous generation of Apple Pencil accessories. This continuity in design and accessory compatibility may ease the transition for existing users while offering significant performance improvements under the hood.
