Apple has officially declared that it will end support for its Clips app, which will no longer receive updates and will be removed from the App Store for new users starting October 10, 2025. Current users can still access the app on devices running iOS 26 or iPadOS 26 and earlier. However, Apple is strongly recommending that users back up their video projects before the service becomes obsolete. In a blog post dated October 11, 2025, Apple stated that new downloads of the Clips app are no longer available. Users who previously downloaded the app can still retrieve it through their Apple account in the App Store, but they will not receive any future updates. To assist users in preserving their videos, Apple has outlined specific steps. Users are encouraged to save their creations as finished files instead of Clips projects. For those wanting to keep videos with special effects, Apple offers a straightforward method. In contrast, if users wish to save original clips without effects, they can follow a separate process that saves the clips to their photo library in a dedicated album labeled 'Clips.' If the option appears dimmed, the original clips can still be found in the Photos app. With the discontinuation of Clips, users are encouraged to transition their projects to alternative applications such as iMovie, InShot, VN Video Editor, or GoPro Quik.
