Owners of older iPhones just got some good news

Apple has exciting news for users of older iPhones, as the tech giant gears up to enhance their performance. On Monday, Apple revealed that its upcoming iOS 27, set to launch this fall, will introduce a sophisticated CPU scheduler to models as old as the iPhone 11. Stacey Ford, Apple's vice president of OS program management, emphasized that this new feature is designed to make older devices feel more responsive. "Even when you're multitasking with demanding applications, the CPU scheduler guarantees that tasks are processed at the optimal moment," she explained. The iPhone 11, which debuted in September 2019, will benefit from this update, marking a significant milestone in Apple's commitment to long-term device support. Ford highlighted that iOS 27 will be accessible to more users than any previous version, showcasing Apple's industry-leading dedication to its customer base. While this update has been met with enthusiasm on social media, some users voiced concerns that older Apple Watch models would miss out on the new watchOS 27 features. Notably, the Apple Watch Series 9, released in 2023, will not be included in this upgrade. In comparison to its competitors, such as Google and Samsung, which typically offer only three years of platform updates for devices released around the same time as the iPhone 11, Apple is set to provide an impressive seven years of major updates for the iPhone 11. However, not all new features of iOS 27 will be available on older devices. To access the latest enhancements, particularly the revamped Siri with advanced AI capabilities, users will need to upgrade to newer models, including the iPhone 15 Pro or Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 and beyond. For the most cutting-edge Apple Intelligence features, an iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, or later models will be necessary.
