Apple’s Gemini deal with Google could be worth Rs 45,200 crore: Report

Apple Inc. has officially entered a significant partnership with Google, aiming to incorporate the Gemini AI model into its Siri and Apple Intelligence platforms. This collaboration, valued at approximately $5 billion (around Rs 45,265 crore), stands out as one of the largest commercial AI distribution agreements to date. The deal provides Google with a valuable revenue stream and opens the door to hundreds of millions of Apple users while enabling Apple to accelerate the long-awaited revamp of Siri and its overarching AI strategy. Earlier this week, Apple confirmed the integration of Google’s Gemini model into its updated Siri and Apple Intelligence system. This partnership follows Apple’s 2024 collaboration with OpenAI, which introduced ChatGPT capabilities to iPhones and Macs. According to Apple, the Gemini integration will not replace the existing ChatGPT features, indicating a multi-model approach to AI across its ecosystem. The magnitude of this arrangement highlights the strategic significance of AI for Apple, particularly as it has lagged behind competitors like Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI in deploying advanced consumer AI products. A former Apple executive remarked that this deal was a “necessary byproduct” of the company's more conservative investment strategy in large-scale AI infrastructure compared to its rivals. Apple has faced challenges in launching its anticipated, more conversational AI-enhanced Siri, which was previewed for 2024, leading to concerns about its competitive position in the generative AI landscape. The partnership with Google is now expected to be vital for Apple’s forthcoming AI advancements. With the integration of Gemini 3 into Apple Intelligence and Siri, the company aims to enhance Siri’s capabilities significantly, including improved reasoning, personal context awareness, and enriched on-screen understanding across its devices. With a global active device count exceeding 2 billion, this partnership represents one of the most potent distribution networks for Google’s AI models. The Gemini-enhanced Siri is anticipated to be launched with the iOS 26.4 update, expected to debut in March or April 2026. If the timeline is accurate, this update could signify Apple’s most substantial AI enhancement in over a decade, marking a crucial milestone in shaping how consumers interact with artificial intelligence on their devices.
