Apple to produce Made in America wireless chips with Broadcom

Apple has entered into a significant multiyear agreement exceeding $30 billion with Broadcom to design and manufacture over 15 billion custom wireless connectivity chips in the United States. This collaboration includes a $1.5 billion investment from Apple aimed at expanding Broadcom's manufacturing facility located in Fort Collins, Colorado. This latest partnership further strengthens the longstanding relationship between Apple and Broadcom, which serves as a key supplier of wireless components for Apple's devices. The initiative is part of Apple's broader commitment to inject $600 billion into the U.S. economy over the next four years, a promise made amid increasing pressure from the previous administration. In the past, former President Trump had threatened to impose tariffs on Apple products unless the company relocated core iPhone manufacturing to the U.S., a policy he later rescinded. While iPhone assembly continues to take place overseas, Apple insists that its partnership with Broadcom will create "hundreds of American jobs," although this figure appears modest in light of the substantial $30 billion investment.
