Apple's latest AirPods Pro 3 were set to impress with their cutting-edge live translation capability, allowing users to understand audio in real time. However, the tech giant has announced that this feature will not be available to customers in the European Union at launch. According to details shared on Apple's official website regarding the iOS 26 features, residents of the EU and those with EU-based Apple IDs will miss out on this innovative functionality. The live translation service, which utilizes Apple Intelligence, is also expected to roll out for the upcoming AirPods 4 and AirPods Pro 2. This limitation appears to stem from the EU's strict regulations surrounding user data protection, particularly the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the Digital Markets Act (DMA). Additionally, the EU AI Act is currently in the process of being implemented, which has previously caused delays in the introduction of certain AI features by Apple. As a result, users in the EU may have to wait until March 2025 to access these advanced functionalities.
