The latest iteration of Apple’s AirPods Pro has landed, and it’s making waves in the premium earbud arena. Though they maintain a familiar aesthetic, the third-generation model introduces a range of internal enhancements that significantly elevate the user experience, including improved noise cancellation and innovative health monitoring features. Despite the passage of three years since the last significant update, Apple has adhered to its tried-and-true design approach. The AirPods Pro 3 continue to sport the signature glossy white finish, making it challenging to distinguish them visually from previous models without a detailed inspection. Nonetheless, subtle reshaping of the earbuds enhances their comfort and stability, allowing for longer listening sessions of three hours or more. With five sizes of silicone tips available, most users can achieve a snug fit. However, those who struggle with in-ear silicone tips may not find this model to be a game changer. Intuitive controls remain a hallmark of the AirPods Pro, with a squeeze on the stalk managing playback and swipes adjusting the volume. A new feature allows users to utilize the earbuds as a remote shutter for their iPhone camera. Additionally, the live translation capability within the Translate app offers a practical tool for simple conversations, though it requires the other party to engage with the translation via the iPhone, which limits its utility in two-way dialogue. A standout feature of the AirPods Pro 3 is the introduction of heart rate sensors, similar to those in the Powerbeats Pro 2. These sensors can track heart rates during workouts through the Fitness app and selected third-party applications, delivering readings that are comparable to dedicated fitness trackers. Coupled with an upgraded IP57 water resistance rating, these earbuds are now well-suited for exercise, effectively resisting both rain and perspiration. Audio quality also sees a significant upgrade. The soundstage is wider, creating a more immersive listening experience with a powerful yet controlled bass. While some users might find the sound slightly clinical compared to competitors, few earbuds in this price range deliver better audio performance. Apple's spatial audio for films remains a highlight, providing a stunning surround sound experience with compatible media. Noise cancellation has undergone a remarkable enhancement, with Apple claiming it is now twice as effective as the previous generation. This claim holds true in real-world use, as the AirPods Pro 3 successfully muffles external noise to levels comparable to high-end over-ear headphones. The transparency mode remains unmatched, allowing users to engage with their environment naturally while wearing the earbuds. Call quality is excellent, ensuring clarity even in bustling surroundings. Battery life has also improved, offering up to eight hours of playback while noise cancellation is active. The compact charging case adds two additional full charges, resulting in a total of 24 hours of listening time. A quick five-minute charge can provide an hour of playback. However, a significant drawback is the low repairability score, receiving a zero out of ten from iFixit, and despite Apple offering battery service, it comes at a premium. On a brighter note, both the earbuds and their case are made from 40% recycled materials, highlighting a commitment to sustainability. With a price tag of Rs 25,900, the AirPods Pro 3 refine an already successful product line. Enhancements in comfort, battery life, and sound quality, along with features like water resistance and heart rate monitoring, make these earbuds a worthy option for fitness lovers and audiophiles alike. The outstanding noise cancellation alone positions them among the elite in wireless earbuds. For iPhone users, the seamless integration and advanced features solidify the AirPods Pro 3 as the top choice in the true wireless market.
