Apple has agreed to a settlement exceeding $250 million to resolve a lawsuit concerning the misleading promotion of Siri's AI capabilities to iPhone users. The legal action stems from claims that the company falsely advertised features that were not available at launch, impacting millions of buyers. Under the terms of the settlement, eligible users of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 series in the United States can expect compensation ranging from $25 to $95. This payment will be distributed to those who purchased the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models between June 2024 and March 2025. According to reports, Apple stated, "We have reached a settlement to resolve claims related to the availability of two additional features. We resolved this matter to stay focused on doing what we do best, delivering the most innovative products and services to our users." The proposed settlement has been submitted to the court for approval, although it does not imply any wrongdoing on Apple's part. Approximately 36 million devices are eligible for this settlement. In 2024, Apple launched a significant advertising campaign to showcase its AI-driven Siri features, which successfully attracted a large number of buyers during the iPhone 15 Pro launch. However, the promised features faced delays without any indication from Apple regarding when they would be made available. The settlement is not yet finalized, as Judge Noel Wise is set to review the agreement during a hearing scheduled for June 17, 2026, in the Northern District of California. Meanwhile, although the anticipated Siri upgrade has been postponed for over two years, expectations are high for iOS 27, which is projected to introduce substantial AI enhancements. Apple has also partnered with others to develop foundational AI models utilizing Gemini technology, leaving enthusiasts eager for updates at the upcoming WWDC 2026.
