Pixel 10 Pro vs Pixel 9 Pro: Expected design, display, and what more to expect

Google is gearing up to unveil its next flagship smartphone, the Pixel 10 Pro, with a launch event scheduled for August 13, as per leaked information. Early insights suggest that the upcoming model will feature only incremental updates compared to its predecessor, the Pixel 9 Pro. The design is expected to closely resemble last year's model, maintaining the flat frame and the premium aluminium-and-glass finish. The color options are likely to include classic shades such as Porcelain, Obsidian, Rose, and Quartz. Leaked images reveal a device that mirrors the size and weight of the Pixel 9 Pro, with only slight variations in dimensions. When it comes to the display, the Pixel 10 Pro is anticipated to retain the 6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen, offering a resolution of 1280 x 2856 pixels. It will also feature a variable refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz, maintaining a pixel density of about 495 ppi. While the previous model reached an impressive peak brightness of 2,655 nits, any enhancements in this area are likely to be minimal. The most significant upgrade will probably lie within the device, as the Pixel 10 Pro is set to debut Google’s new Tensor G5 processor, which is now being manufactured by TSMC using a 3nm process. This change is expected to improve efficiency and thermal performance over the Tensor G4 chip from Samsung. The RAM is projected to remain at 16GB LPDDR5, and the device will launch with the latest Android 16 operating system. Camera capabilities will likely stay consistent, featuring a 50MP main lens, a 48MP ultrawide lens, and a 48MP periscope telephoto lens. Enhancements are expected to stem from AI-driven image processing rather than any new hardware. Battery capacity is likely to remain at 4,700mAh, but the efficiency gains from the new chipset may lead to improved battery life. Charging specifications are still unclear, with rumors suggesting either 29W or 45W wired charging speeds, while Qi2 wireless charging is confirmed. If these leaks hold true, the Pixel 10 Pro will mainly derive its distinction from the upgraded processor, while continuing to retail at the same price of $999 as its predecessor.
