Realme is gearing up to unveil its much-anticipated 16 Pro series in India, just six months after the release of the 15 Pro lineup. The Chinese smartphone manufacturer is highlighting a significant focus on camera capabilities in its promotional materials, suggesting an exciting upgrade in photography features. The teaser artwork showcases a sleek design with rounded edges and a lustrous golden finish on the back, igniting enthusiasm among fans. While Realme has yet to disclose the exact number of devices in the 16 Pro series or their official names, rumors indicate that it may include the Realme 16 Pro and the 16 Pro+, both expected to debut on January 6. This launch date could spark a competitive showdown with Xiaomi’s Redmi, which is also set to release its Note 15 series on the same day. Interestingly, the Realme 16 Pro series has not been introduced in China yet. However, the standard model has recently been identified on China’s TENAA and MIIT certification sites under the model number RMX5121. Expected features for the Realme 16 Pro include a vibrant 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a resolution of 2772×1272 pixels. On the camera side, it is rumored to boast a remarkable 200MP primary sensor complemented by an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP front-facing camera. This marks a notable upgrade from the Realme 15 Pro, which offered a 50MP primary camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP selfie camera. In terms of battery life, the upcoming device is anticipated to house a robust 7,000mAh battery, reinforcing the trend for larger capacities in the mid-range market segment. Additionally, it is expected to support 80W wired fast charging, enhancing user convenience. On the software side, the Realme 16 Pro is likely to operate on Realme UI 7, built on Android 16. Features such as an in-display fingerprint scanner and an IR blaster are also expected. Potential color options for the device may include grey, gold, and purple. Speculations suggest that the Realme 16 Pro could have a thickness of 7.75mm and a weight of around 192g. Recent social media posts have revealed images of the retail box for the device, but many specifications remain unverified as Realme has yet to make an official announcement. Given the rise in memory chip prices, it’s anticipated that the pricing for the Realme 16 Pro series may start above ₹30,000, compared to the starting price of ₹28,999 for the Realme 15 Pro.
