iPhone 17 series leaks: Slim Air design, 8K video and bigger Pro battery tipped

Apple is gearing up for one of its most significant announcements of the year at the highly anticipated "Awe Dropping" event, scheduled for Monday, September 9, at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time. All eyes are on the tech giant as it prepares to unveil the iPhone 17 series, which is expected to feature a dramatic redesign and a host of new features. According to a recent report from MacRumors, the iPhone 17 lineup is set to take center stage, showcasing multiple models that promise substantial upgrades in design, performance, and camera capabilities. The standard iPhone 17 is anticipated to grow slightly, measuring 6.3 inches, and will likely sport a smoother 120Hz ProMotion display with an always-on feature. Additionally, it might introduce a sharper 24MP front-facing camera and will be powered by Apple's new A19 processor. Users can also expect the addition of Qi2 25W wireless MagSafe charging and a refreshed selection of six colors, including steel grey, green, and purple. One of the standout models, the iPhone 17 Air, is rumored to be a remarkably thin and lightweight option, replacing the current Plus variant. Expected to measure just 5.5mm and weigh around 145 grams, it may feature a titanium-aluminium frame and a 6.6-inch ProMotion display. The Air model is believed to house a 48MP rear camera within a stylish camera bar, run on the A19 chip alongside Apple's C1 modem, and include 12GB of RAM. Other notable features could comprise a 3,000mAh battery, Action and Camera Control buttons, and four exclusive color finishes, such as light gold and sky blue. On the higher end of the spectrum, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are anticipated to deliver significant camera and performance enhancements. Both models are expected to showcase a redesigned rear with a horizontal camera bar, constructed with a blend of aluminium and glass. The display may become brighter, and an Apple-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip could enhance wireless connectivity. A new 48MP telephoto lens is rumored to offer up to 8× optical zoom, with video recording capabilities reaching 8K resolution. The Pro Max could also feature a larger 5,088mAh battery, with both Pro models likely starting at 256GB of storage. New color options may include dark blue and orange. Pricing for the regular iPhone 17 is expected to remain stable, starting at $799 in the U.S. for the 128GB model. However, analysts predict that the Pro and Pro Max models will see higher price points due to upgraded storage and advanced features. Market research firm TrendForce estimates the price for the iPhone 17 Pro will begin at $1,199, while the Pro Max could start at $1,299. The new iPhone Air is anticipated to launch at $1,099 for the 256GB variant. Meanwhile, J.P. Morgan's forecasts suggest a slightly lower starting price for the Pro line at $1,099. If Apple follows its usual schedule, pre-orders are expected to open on Friday, September 12, at 5 a.m. Pacific Time, with deliveries and in-store availability likely to commence the following week on Friday, September 19. Stay tuned for detailed insights into the pricing, features, and launch dates for the iPhone 17 series, including the Pro, Pro Max, and Air models.
