iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max India prices tipped ahead of Apple event

Apple is gearing up for its highly anticipated autumn keynote scheduled for September 9, 2025, at the iconic Steve Jobs Theatre located in Cupertino. The event, aptly named "Awe Dropping," is expected to unveil the much-discussed iPhone 17 lineup alongside new models of the Apple Watch, updated AirPods, and enhanced artificial intelligence capabilities. In India, analysts are closely monitoring the potential pricing of these devices. Faisal Kawoosa, the Chief Analyst and Founder of Techarc, estimates that the base model of the iPhone 17 may launch at approximately ₹86,000. This projection takes into account a five percent depreciation of the Indian rupee against the US dollar this year. However, there are indications that Apple might maintain the starting price of the base model, as it is not anticipated to deliver substantial upgrades over the iPhone 16. Reports from JP Morgan suggest that Apple will keep the entry-level model's price steady at $799 in the United States, mirroring last year's pricing. For the new iPhone 17 Air, which is set to replace the Plus model, a price range between $899 and $949 is expected. Meanwhile, the iPhone 17 Pro may see a price increase of $100, bringing it to $1,099, while the Pro Max is likely to remain at $1,199. If Apple follows its traditional pricing strategy in India, the iPhone 17 could start around ₹79,900, with the Air variant priced close to ₹89,900. The Pro model may approach ₹1,30,000, reflecting the increase in the U.S. market, whereas the Pro Max is projected to remain near last year’s ₹1,44,900. Industry experts observe that the iPhone is not expected to penetrate the mass market in India in the immediate future. Techarc predicts that once annual shipments reach 15 million units, sales may plateau for a period of three to five years. In an optimistic outlook, Apple could capture a 12–15 percent share of the Indian smartphone market by volume, a significant rise from its current low single-digit share. Projections suggest that iPhone sales in India might stabilize by 2030-2033, with the next phase of growth anticipated several years thereafter. It is important to note that these insights are based on market leaks and remain speculative. Official pricing details for the iPhone 17 series will be revealed during the "Awe Dropping" event on September 9.
