Apple is gearing up for its highly anticipated product event on September 9. While the tech giant has not officially revealed any details, history tells us that September is synonymous with new iPhone releases. The iPhone lineup has seen mostly minor updates since the introduction of the iPhone 14 Pro in 2022, which brought the Dynamic Island feature, and the transition to USB-C in 2023. Despite these changes, there hasn't been a major redesign akin to the groundbreaking iPhone X launch in 2017. Speculation suggests that Apple may be exploring the concept of a foldable iPhone, a move that could leverage years of advancements from the iPad. However, if such a device is in the pipeline, it likely won't debut this year. Instead, Apple appears set to continue refining its existing iPhone X-inspired design. The standard iPhone model, which typically serves as the focal point of the lineup, is expected to receive its usual round of incremental upgrades. Reports indicate the screen size may increase from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, aligning with the current iPhone 16 Pro's dimensions. Additionally, a high-refresh-rate ProMotion display—previously a feature exclusive to Pro models—might be introduced, which is a much-anticipated upgrade given that many affordable Android phones now offer 90 Hz or 120 Hz displays. While it remains uncertain whether this will also include the always-on display feature exclusive to Pro variants, the expected enhancements in fluidity would certainly be a welcome improvement. Besides these upgrades, other enhancements are yet to be confirmed, but we can reasonably expect better front and rear cameras, along with a new A19-series chip equipped with at least 8GB of RAM to support advanced Apple Intelligence features.
