Apple is gearing up to unveil its highly anticipated iPhone 17 series, with the launch expected in early September. As the countdown begins, speculation is rife regarding the new features of these flagship devices. This year, Apple plans to introduce four models: the standard iPhone 17, two Pro variants, and a new model called the iPhone 17 Air, which will replace last year’s Plus variant. Recent leaks from tipster Majin Bu on X (formerly Twitter) have revealed the probable sizes of the upcoming iPhone models through images of their screen protectors. The iPhone 17 is expected to sport a 6.3-inch display, while the iPhone 17 Pro is set to feature the same screen size. However, the standout is the iPhone 17 Air, which may come with a larger 6.6-inch display, slightly smaller than the 6.7-inch screen of the iPhone 16 Plus. In a significant shift, the iPhone 17 Air is rumored to be the slimmest iPhone yet, potentially measuring around 5.5mm in thickness. However, there are varying reports about its thickness; Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman suggests it will be about 2mm thinner than the iPhone 16 Pro, currently at 8.25mm, while analyst Jeff Fu predicts it could be 6mm thick. This new model is expected to weigh just 145 grams, making it lighter than all other iPhones. The iPhone 17 Air may also feature a unique bar-shaped horizontal camera bump that is likely to include a single 48MP rear camera. However, there are concerns about its battery performance, with leaks indicating an underwhelming battery capacity of less than 3,000mAh, which could result in poorer battery life than its predecessors. The device is anticipated to be powered by the new A19 chipset and may support up to 12GB of RAM, an increase from the current 8GB in the existing iPhone lineup. Stay tuned for more updates as the launch date approaches.
