Anthropic got an 11% user boost from its OpenAI-bashing Super Bowl ad, data shows

In a dramatic showdown during the Super Bowl, Anthropic emerged not only as a contender in the AI space but also as a winner in user engagement. Following its provocative advertisement that took aim at OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the company experienced a notable 6.5% increase in site visits. This boost propelled its Claude chatbot into the top 10 free applications on the Apple App Store, surpassing competitors like OpenAI, Google Gemini, and Meta. Post-Super Bowl data revealed that Anthropic's daily active users surged by an impressive 11%, marking the highest increase within its AI sector. In contrast, OpenAI's ChatGPT only saw a modest 2.7% rise, while Gemini lagged with a 1.4% uptick. Despite this growth, Claude's user base remains significantly smaller than that of its rivals. The Super Bowl, which captivated a staggering 125 million viewers in the U.S., became a battleground for artificial intelligence brands vying for consumer attention in an increasingly competitive market. The rivalry between Anthropic and OpenAI intensified with their competing advertisements as both companies gear up for potential IPOs in the near future. In recent weeks, executives from both firms have engaged in public exchanges of criticism, with OpenAI CEO Sam Altman labeling Anthropic's Super Bowl campaign as "deceptive" and "clearly dishonest" on social media. As both companies race to attract enterprise clients and top programming talent, they are also securing unprecedented funding. Anthropic recently closed a $30 billion funding round, achieving a staggering post-money valuation of $380 billion, more than double its worth from its September fundraising. Meanwhile, OpenAI continues to lead the sector, having previously set records for private tech fundraising and is reportedly negotiating a potential $100 billion funding round, as reported by CNBC.
