Anthropic has successfully wrapped up its latest funding round, surpassing its initial goal of $10 billion and reaching an impressive valuation of $350 billion. According to sources who spoke to CNBC under the condition of anonymity, the total raised in this round is estimated to be between $10 billion and $15 billion. Notably, there is potential for this amount to increase if tech giants Microsoft and Nvidia decide to participate. In a previous announcement, Microsoft and Nvidia had expressed intentions to invest up to $5 billion and $10 billion, respectively, in the AI startup. However, it remains uncertain whether they will join this current funding round or how much they might contribute. The financing is being led by Coatue Management and Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC, with participation from Sequoia Capital, which also backs Anthropic's competitor, OpenAI. The Financial Times was the first to highlight the overwhelming interest in Anthropic's fundraising efforts. Founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives, including CEO Dario Amodei, Anthropic has gained recognition for its development of the Claude family of large language models. Its AI coding tool, Claude Code, has seen a notable surge in usage in recent months. Earlier this month, Amodei reported to CNBC that Anthropic generated nearly $10 billion in revenue last year, underscoring the company's rapid growth and significant impact in the AI landscape.
