Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei jokes that his company's extreme revenue growth is 'too hard to handle.'

Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, recently shared insights on the remarkable 80-fold increase in the company's revenue and usage during the first quarter. Speaking at the Code with Claude developer conference in San Francisco, Amodei humorously expressed his hope that such extreme growth does not continue, as it may be 'too hard to handle.' He suggested that a more manageable growth rate, perhaps 'just 10x,' would be preferable. During a discussion with his sister and co-founder, Daniela Amodei, the CEO attributed part of this explosive growth to the success of Anthropic’s Claude Code service, which has resonated well with developers. He noted that the adoption of new technologies often varies across the economy, with software engineers typically leading the charge. Amodei emphasized that this trend is indicative of how technological advancements will unfold across various sectors. Known for his candid views on AI's potential disruptions, Amodei has previously predicted that by March 2025, nearly all code could be generated by AI. This projection has raised concerns about job security for white-collar workers. After initially lagging behind competitors like OpenAI in the generative AI landscape, Anthropic saw a resurgence in popularity with its Claude Code, propelling significant revenue growth. In a strategic move, Anthropic recently announced a partnership with SpaceX, securing 300 megawatts of computing power at the Colossus One data center. This collaboration is expected to enhance the capabilities of Claude Code, allowing developers to utilize the service for extended periods. Anthropic is set to continue its outreach to developers with additional events, reinforcing its commitment to innovation and growth in the AI sector.
