Anthropic CEO says 'no choice' but to challenge Trump admin's supply chain risk designation in court

Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, has announced that his company will be legally contesting the U.S. government's recent classification of it as a supply chain risk. In recent weeks, tensions have escalated between Anthropic and the Department of Defense (DOD) regarding the use of its artificial intelligence models, branded as Claude. Anthropic has been seeking assurances that its technology will not be utilized for developing fully autonomous weapons systems or for domestic surveillance activities. However, the DOD has insisted that the company provide unrestricted access to Claude for all lawful applications. Amodei emphasized the company's position, stating, "As we stated last Friday, we do not believe, and have never believed, that it is the role of Anthropic or any private company to be involved in operational decision-making—that is the role of the military."
