VCs are flooding Anthropic with offers to invest at up to an $800 billion valuation

In recent weeks, Anthropic has attracted a flurry of investment offers, with venture capitalists valuing the AI startup behind the Claude project at an astonishing $800 billion—more than double its current assessment. Sources close to the situation reveal that while startups often receive such preemptive offers only to decline, the soaring valuations suggest an intense interest in Anthropic as it gears up for a potential IPO this year. A spokesperson for the company opted not to comment on the influx of offers. Earlier this year, Anthropic completed a funding round led by GIC and Coatue, which pegged its valuation at $380 billion. This figure is notably less than the $852 billion valuation achieved by OpenAI in a recent funding round. On Caplight, a secondary market for private company shares, Anthropic's valuation stands at $688 billion, reflecting a remarkable 75% increase over just three months. Investors and industry leaders are clearly impressed by Anthropic's rapid growth and the momentum behind its AI-driven coding assistant, Claude. "They're crushing it," remarked Jared Quincy Davis, founder and CEO of Mithril, during the HumanX AI conference last week. The company's run-rate revenue has skyrocketed to $30 billion, up from $9 billion at the end of the previous year, as disclosed in their recent announcements. Furthermore, Anthropic has reported that over 1,000 business clients are now spending in excess of $1 million annually—a figure that has doubled in under two months. Recently, Anthropic unveiled its latest model, Mythos, which it claims is so advanced that it cannot yet be made available to the public due to potential cybersecurity risks. "The Mythos model is a huge deal," stated Tomasz Tunguz, founder and general partner of Theory Ventures, at the HumanX conference. "There's tremendous excitement surrounding it."
