Anthropic raises another $30B in Series G, with a new value of $380B

Anthropic has successfully wrapped up a remarkable $30 billion Series G funding round, a significant leap that elevates the company's valuation to an impressive $380 billion, up from $183 billion during its previous Series F round. This announcement was made by the company on Thursday, showcasing its rapid growth in the competitive AI landscape. The funding round was spearheaded by the GIC, Singapore's sovereign wealth fund, along with Coatue Management. Notable co-leaders also include D. E. Shaw Ventures, the Founders Fund led by Peter Thiel, and Abu Dhabi's MGX. The round attracted other significant investors, such as Accel, General Catalyst, Jane Street, and the Qatar Investment Authority, among a host of others. This influx of capital comes at a pivotal time for Anthropic as it competes with rivals, particularly OpenAI, which is simultaneously pursuing an additional $100 billion in funding. Should OpenAI succeed, its valuation could skyrocket to approximately $830 billion. In a press release, Krishna Rao, Anthropic’s CFO, emphasized the growing importance of their AI product, Claude, stating, "Whether it is entrepreneurs, startups, or the world’s largest enterprises, the message from our customers is the same: Claude is increasingly becoming more critical to how businesses work. This fundraising reflects the incredible demand we are seeing from these customers, and we will use this investment to continue building the enterprise-grade products and models they have come to depend on."
