Anthropic, a prominent player in the artificial intelligence sector, has successfully completed a $13 billion Series F funding round, elevating its post-money valuation to an impressive $183 billion. The company announced that these funds will be allocated towards enhancing enterprise usage, advancing safety research, and facilitating international growth. The funding round was co-led by Iconiq and Fidelity Management & Research Company, along with participation from Lightspeed Venture Partners. A diverse array of institutional investors, venture capitalists, sovereign wealth funds, private equity firms, and asset managers also contributed, including notable names like Altimeter, Baillie Gifford, BlackRock, Blackstone, Coatue, D1 Capital Partners, Insight Partners, and the Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan, among others. According to Anthropic's CFO, Krishna Rao, the demand from their customer base is experiencing rapid growth. "This financing reflects the remarkable confidence investors have in our financial trajectory and our partnerships that are propelling our extraordinary expansion," Rao stated. Previously, Anthropic raised $3.5 billion at a valuation of $61.5 billion in March 2025. This latest fundraising effort follows reports indicating that the company was close to securing between $3 billion and $5 billion at a $170 billion valuation. The AI startup has reported a staggering increase in its annual recurring revenue, skyrocketing from $1 billion to $5 billion in just one year, largely driven by increased API usage and enterprise adoption. The company serves over 300,000 business clients, and the number of large accounts—those generating over $100,000 in annual revenue—has surged nearly sevenfold in the past year. Additionally, Anthropic's Claude Code has become a favorite among developers, contributing significantly to the company’s growth with its vibe-coding product, which is already generating over $500 million in revenue with usage expanding more than tenfold in the last three months. Despite these achievements, CEO Dario Amodei expressed concerns regarding the reliance on investments from sovereign wealth funds associated with authoritarian regimes, admitting in a memo that it is challenging to exclude certain investors while sustaining business operations. This situation continues to evolve, and updates will follow as more information emerges.
