On Monday, Anthropic introduced Claude Opus 4.5, its newest artificial intelligence model designed to excel in coding and assist users with intricate enterprise tasks. This latest release marks Anthropic's third significant model debut in just two months, reflecting the rapid advancement within the AI sector. Scott White, the product leader for Claude.ai, expressed his enthusiasm during an interview with CNBC, stating, "The amount that we're releasing to the market and the feedback loops that we're generating from it just make me so unbelievably excited." Founded by former OpenAI researchers and executives in 2021, Anthropic has quickly garnered attention, particularly after Microsoft and Nvidia recently invested billions, elevating the startup's valuation to approximately $350 billion. Claude Opus is part of a series of AI models, with the largest being Opus, followed by the midsized Sonnet and the smallest, Haiku. The previous Opus version, Claude Opus 4.1, was released in August. According to White, the new model targets professional software developers and knowledge workers, including financial analysts and consultants, who are eager to innovate and enhance their work. Anthropic claims that Claude Opus 4.5 significantly improves performance in everyday tasks such as managing spreadsheets and conducting thorough research. In a competitive analysis, it outperformed other leading models, including Google's Gemini 3 Pro and OpenAI's GPT-5.1, particularly in coding capabilities as measured by SWE-bench Verified. In a notable test, Claude Opus 4.5 achieved scores surpassing those of any human candidate on a challenging take-home exam given to prospective performance engineers. The model will be widely accessible, serving as the default for Anthropic's Pro, Max, and Enterprise offerings. Additionally, Anthropic announced enhancements to various products, including the expansion of Claude for Chrome to all Max users, and the general availability of Claude for Excel to a broader audience. The company is also integrating Claude Code into its desktop app and introducing new features to its developer platform.
