On Wednesday, Anthropic disclosed that it is dealing with heightened error rates affecting its Claude chatbot, application programming interface, and coding assistant, Claude Code. According to the company’s status page, by approximately 12:30 p.m. ET, they reported that the success rates for logging into the chatbot had begun to stabilize, and efforts are underway to completely resolve these issues. The problems were first noted around 10:53 a.m. ET, prompting an investigation into the errors. Founded in 2021 by a team of researchers and executives who left OpenAI, Anthropic's valuation stood at $380 billion as of February. The company has gained prominence for its Claude family of AI models, with Claude Code witnessing a significant surge in popularity over the past year. Anthropic has found initial success in securing contracts with large enterprises, as businesses invest heavily in integrating AI solutions into their operations. This startup is currently navigating a competitive landscape against major players like Google and OpenAI, which was valued at $850 billion during its latest funding round in late March. Reports from Downdetector, a platform that tracks user-reported internet issues, indicated that around 2,000 users were experiencing problems with Claude at 1:12 p.m. ET, a decrease from roughly 6,000 users at 10:42 a.m. ET. In a related note, an Anthropic co-founder recently shared insights about the company’s ongoing efforts to expand access to its Mythos platform during a Semafor event.
