Enterprise Claude gets admin, compliance tools—just not unlimited usage

In a recent update, Anthropic has introduced new features for Claude Enterprise and Teams, allowing customers to enjoy expanded usage and access to Claude Code under a single subscription model. This announcement comes just weeks after the company revealed rate limits for its popular AI models. The enhancements include improved administrative controls and a newly developed Compliance API, designed to provide enterprises with insights into usage data and customer content. This upgrade aims to enhance observability, auditing, and governance capabilities within organizations. According to Anthropic, this integration will allow users to transition smoothly from ideation to implementation, while administrators gain the necessary visibility and control to effectively scale Claude throughout their organization. Claude Code is now accessible to both Team and Enterprise plan users, featuring flexible pricing options that allow organizations to mix standard and premium seats based on their needs. The premium seats, which offer additional features, can be assigned to individuals depending on their roles within the organization. Despite the positive feedback surrounding the new features, some users have voiced concerns regarding the retention of rate limits on Claude. These limits, which will take effect on August 28, are intended to create space for more projects and prevent abuse of the system. Critics have called for the removal of these limits altogether, expressing frustration over the existing five-hour usage cap for premium seats, which remains unchanged for both Enterprise and Team users. In response to inquiries, Anthropic reassured users that the new Claude Code bundle provides the option for increased usage while maintaining robust seat management controls for admins. The company emphasized that while individual Max plans may suffice for personal use, the Enterprise bundle is tailored to meet the security, compliance, and analytics needs of larger organizations. Enterprise IT administrators will have the ability to manage seats, allocate resources, set spending controls, and view analytics related to Claude Code usage. Additionally, the Compliance API will enable businesses, especially those in regulated industries, to monitor usage data effectively and enforce policy compliance within their operations.
