Anthropic expands Claude Cowork with new enterprise plugins for finance, HR, engineering and others

On February 24, Anthropic unveiled a significant expansion of its enterprise AI platform, Claude Cowork, introducing a variety of new plugins and tools designed to streamline workflows in departments such as human resources, finance, design, and engineering. The latest update features 'private plugin marketplaces,' empowering enterprises to create, secure, and deploy AI agents that cater specifically to their operational needs. This strategic move is part of Anthropic's vision to evolve Claude into a comprehensive collaborator, incorporating a suite of advanced AI tools that seamlessly integrate with popular applications like Google Drive, Gmail, DocuSign, and FactSet, thereby enabling secure access to real-time enterprise data. According to a blog post from Anthropic, these private plugin marketplaces allow companies to develop, manage, and share customized plugins, connectors, and capabilities across different teams. Additionally, a centralized 'Customise' dashboard provides administrators with oversight of all plugins, connectors, and security measures from one location. A standout feature of the updated Claude Cowork is its ability to execute multi-step tasks across various software applications. For instance, it can analyze data from Microsoft Excel and effortlessly transform that information into a PowerPoint presentation. The company emphasizes that Claude can operate end-to-end, maintaining context across different applications. Anthropic's collection of pre-built plugins is tailored to meet the specific functions of various departments. For HR teams, it can assist in drafting offer letters and onboarding plans. Designers can benefit from tools to create UX critique frameworks and user research plans, while engineers can utilize it for summarizing standups and managing task deployment. This enhanced plugin experience and the associated administrative controls are currently being rolled out for Claude Team and Enterprise subscribers. The cross-application functionality between Excel and PowerPoint is also available in research preview for all paid users on both Mac and Windows desktop platforms.
