Anduril, the innovative defense technology firm, has successfully completed a substantial $5 billion Series H funding round, propelling its valuation to an impressive $61 billion. The announcement, made on Wednesday, revealed that prominent investors Thrive Capital and Andreessen Horowitz played pivotal roles in this latest financial boost. This new valuation more than doubles the company's worth from just under a year ago, when it raised $2.5 billion at a $30.5 billion valuation, with a significant $1 billion investment from Founders Fund — the largest in the firm’s history, according to TechCrunch. CEO Brian Schimpf highlighted the achievement in a blog post, noting that the nine-year-old company saw its revenue double to $2.2 billion in 2025. Despite its success, Anduril faces competition for contracts, as the Department of Defense appears cautious about committing to any single startup. For instance, Shield AI, another American drone manufacturer, was chosen to provide software for the Air Force’s collaboration with Anduril’s “Fury” autonomous fighter jet, rather than awarding a comprehensive contract to just one entity. In recent weeks, Anduril has announced several significant contracts beyond U.S. borders. Notably, in May, it participated in a project to develop a space-based missile defense system for the continental U.S. Additionally, it secured contracts with the Dutch Ministry of Defense and the U.S. Army for battle management software that leverages its Lattice platform for analyzing joint missile defense systems. Reflecting on the evolution of defense investment, Schimpf remarked that when Anduril was founded in 2017, the sector attracted minimal venture capital. However, the landscape has changed dramatically. In March, Shield AI secured $1.5 billion in Series G funding at a $12.7 billion valuation. Just last month, Hermeus, which develops hypersonic unmanned fighter jets, raised $350 million with a valuation exceeding $1 billion, led by Khosla Ventures. Furthermore, European defense tech firm Helsing is reportedly nearing a $1.2 billion funding round at an estimated $18 billion valuation. With this latest funding, Anduril has now raised over $11 billion from various investors, solidifying its position as a leader in the defense technology arena.
