Anthropic taps former OpenAI co-founder and Tesla veteran Andrej Karpathy to lead AI research

Andrej Karpathy, a notable figure in the AI landscape and former co-founder of OpenAI, has made headlines once again by joining Anthropic. His recent announcement via a post on X marks a significant shift as he steps into the role of leading the Research and Development team, further intensifying the competition in the rapidly evolving field of artificial intelligence. Karpathy’s transition to Anthropic has already taken effect this week, where he is set to assemble a dedicated team focused on leveraging Claude to enhance pretraining research.
