AMD reportedly plans Ryzen 5800X3D re-release for upgraders on a budget

As DDR5 becomes the norm with newer Intel and AMD processors, many users find themselves facing the costly need to replace their DDR4 memory to transition to more advanced CPUs and motherboards. Recent leaks, highlighted by Tom's Hardware, suggest that AMD is working on an intriguing product: the 'AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition.' This re-release of a four-year-old processor could serve as a valuable upgrade for users still operating with older Ryzen CPUs on Socket AM4 motherboards. The designation 'X3D' indicates that this chip boasts a remarkable 64MB of additional L3 cache, resulting in a total of 96MB. This enhanced cache is particularly beneficial for workloads that thrive on extra memory, such as gaming, allowing the 5800X3D to outpace the standard Ryzen 7 5800X significantly. The '10th Anniversary' label honors the AM4 processor socket, which debuted in September 2016. Although the AM5 socket has taken its place in the spotlight nearly four years ago, AMD has strategically maintained the AM4 socket to serve budget-conscious consumers.
