Amazon Web Services (AWS) has secured a groundbreaking agreement to offer U.S. federal agencies discounts totaling up to $1 billion. This initiative, aimed at promoting cloud adoption, modernization, and training, will extend through 2028, as announced by the General Services Administration (GSA). This partnership is poised to accelerate the transition of federal agencies to cloud technologies, while also facilitating the adoption of advanced artificial intelligence tools. The GSA highlighted that this collaboration reflects a mutual commitment between the public and private sectors to strengthen the United States' leadership in AI. Matt Garman, AWS's cloud executive, described the agreement as a pivotal achievement in the extensive digital transformation of government services. The discounts will encompass credits for utilizing AWS's cloud infrastructure, as well as various modernization programs and training services, along with incentives for direct collaboration between AWS and federal agencies. In addition to this deal with AWS, the GSA recently announced a similar agreement with Oracle. Furthermore, the agency has also reached an arrangement with OpenAI, providing federal agencies access to ChatGPT for just $1 over the next year, signaling a broader trend towards integrating AI solutions in government operations.
