Amazon announced massive new office hub in Bengaluru to house over 7,000 staff

Amazon has officially announced the opening of a substantial new office campus in Bengaluru, India, touted as the second-largest office complex in Asia. Spanning an impressive 1.1 million square feet, this facility is designed to accommodate over 7,000 employees working across various sectors including e-commerce, operations, payments, technology, and seller services. Situated approximately 15 kilometers from Kempegowda International Airport, the 12-story office campus occupies five acres and was inaugurated by Dr. M.B. Patil, the Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development in Karnataka. This ambitious launch highlights Amazon's ongoing commitment to India, having already invested around $40 billion, with plans to inject an additional $35 billion by 2030. Samir Kumar, Country Manager for Amazon India, emphasized the importance of India in Amazon's long-term strategy, stating, "India continues to be a long-term priority for Amazon, and Bengaluru has played a central role in our journey here. Over the years, the city has been home to some of our earliest technology and business teams, and today it remains a key hub for innovation and talent." The new campus is designed with collaboration in mind, featuring meeting rooms, huddle spaces, breakout areas, and event venues that can accommodate over 200 individuals. Additionally, employees will benefit from recreational amenities such as basketball and pickleball courts, an amphitheater, landscaped lawns, and outdoor community spaces. Cafeterias spread across two floors will offer a diverse selection of global cuisines, enhancing the workplace experience. This new office not only broadens Amazon's footprint in India but also reinforces its position in Bengaluru as a global technology center, enabling the company to scale its teams and innovation efforts to support its ambitious growth objectives in the region.
