Amazon has announced a new, more budget-conscious version of its color screen Kindle. Following the successful launch of the Kindle Colorsoft last year, the tech giant revealed on Thursday that the new model will retail for $249.99, a reduction of $30 from the original price, while offering 16GB of storage instead of 32GB. The Kindle Colorsoft was designed to enhance the reading experience, particularly for graphic novels and comics, featuring an engaging 7-inch display. The device boasts an adjustable, glare-free screen and an impressive battery life of up to eight weeks. Users can also enjoy customizable text settings, such as a dark mode that inverts the black text and white background. In addition to the standard features of the original model, the latest 16GB Kindle Colorsoft retains its high-contrast display, warm adjustable light, quick page turns, and includes three months of Kindle Unlimited, granting access to over four million e-books. However, it does not come with the auto-adjusting front light, wireless charging capabilities, or the larger storage of the Signature Edition. For younger readers, Amazon has launched the Kindle Colorsoft Kids, priced at $269.99. This version comes with an illustrated cover, a two-year warranty, and a year-long subscription to Amazon Kids+, which provides access to a variety of books, games, and videos. The device is equipped with tools to aid children in reading, featuring a vocabulary builder, the Word Wise feature for word comprehension, the OpenDyslexic font for easier reading, and Bluetooth connectivity for audiobooks.
