Amazon is poised to undertake its most significant job reduction since 2023, with plans to eliminate approximately 30,000 corporate roles beginning Tuesday. According to sources familiar with the situation, this substantial cut will impact multiple departments, including human resources, devices and services, operations, and more. This move marks the largest workforce reduction since the company cut 27,000 jobs in late 2022. In previous years, Amazon had opted for smaller layoffs across various divisions. Earlier this year, the company made minor adjustments by reducing positions in its Communications and Sustainability teams. The announcement follows a report from CNBC detailing a memo from CEO Andy Jassy, which suggested that the integration of more AI agents within the company will reduce the need for certain corporate roles. As of now, Amazon has not responded to inquiries regarding the impending layoffs.
