Amazon unveils a slimmer Fire TV Stick HD, opens Ember Artline TVs for preorder

In an exciting announcement on Wednesday, Amazon revealed its latest streaming innovation: the Fire TV Stick HD, alongside the new Ember Artline televisions, both of which are now up for preorder. This new Fire TV Stick HD marks a significant advancement, being touted as Amazon's slimmest streaming device to date. Following the original launch of the first-generation Fire TV Stick HD just two years ago, this updated model aims to streamline Amazon’s range of entry-level devices by replacing the older Fire TV Stick and Fire TV Stick Lite with one efficient option. Approximately 30% slimmer than its predecessor, the Fire TV Stick HD is designed for users seeking portability without sacrificing performance. Notably, it operates around 30% faster, ensuring quicker app load times. Enhanced connectivity is also a highlight, featuring Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3. A standout aspect of the new device is the integration of Alexa+, Amazon’s AI assistant. This feature allows users in the U.S., Canada, and the U.K. to effortlessly request information about actors, discover new shows, and manage smart home devices through simple voice commands. Additionally, Amazon is introducing an innovative “Adaptive Display” setting that enhances accessibility. This feature increases the visibility of text and menus, making navigation easier by scaling up smaller elements while maintaining a balanced aesthetic for artwork. The Fire TV Stick HD is priced at $34.99 and is available for preorder, with shipping set to commence on April 29 across several countries including Canada, Mexico, the U.S., the U.K., Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. Alongside the Fire TV Stick HD, Amazon has also opened preorders for its Ember Artline televisions. These TVs, first revealed at CES 2026, focus on both aesthetics and functionality, featuring a choice of 10 magnetic frames in various colors—ranging from Walnut to Silver—that can easily complement any home decor. A unique AI feature called “Match the Room” helps users select artwork that fits their TV's surroundings, allowing access to over 2,000 free art pieces while also integrating with Amazon Photos for additional image options. Like the Fire TV Stick HD, the Ember Artline TVs support Alexa+, enabling voice control for content searches and playback. Additionally, Amazon is rolling out a new feature for U.S. customers this month that simplifies the process of transferring content between Fire TV devices. Users can request the assistant to move their favorite shows or sports events from one device to another, initially available on Prime Video with plans to expand. The Ember Artline televisions boast an ultra-slim 1.5-inch profile and come with a stunning 4K QLED display, supporting HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. Available in 55-inch and 65-inch models, they start at $899.99 and are also available for preorder, with shipments expected to begin on April 22 in the U.S. and Canada, followed by releases in the U.K. and Germany.
