Amazon India’s Prime Day 2025 breaks records with Tier 2 and 3 surge and premium product boom

Amazon India's Prime Day event in 2025 has set new benchmarks, becoming the most successful Prime Day to date. The three-day sale experienced an astounding peak of over 18,000 orders every minute, with more than 70% of new Prime memberships originating from tier 2 and tier 3 cities. The company reported significant growth across various categories, including electronics, fashion, home goods, groceries, and beauty products. The surge in premium product sales was a key factor in this success, bolstered by incentives such as No Cost EMI, bank promotions, exchange offers, and discounts through Amazon Pay. Akshay Sahi, Head of Amazon Prime, Delivery and Returns Experiences for India and Emerging Markets, expressed gratitude to sellers, brands, and banking partners for contributing to this record-breaking Prime Day. He noted that Prime members purchased a greater volume of items than in any previous event, achieving record speed with the highest number of same-day deliveries. Sahi emphasized the company's commitment to customer satisfaction, stating that this Prime Day epitomized value, speedy deliveries, exceptional deals, new product launches, and blockbuster entertainment provided through Prime membership. With a recent investment of ₹2,000 crores aimed at enhancing the well-being of associates and expanding operations, Amazon has improved its delivery efficiency and safety. The event was marked by inclusivity, with over 68% of participating small and medium businesses coming from non-metro locations. Sales in premium smartphones saw double-digit growth, while high-value TVs and branded fashion items doubled in sales, featuring popular brands like Apple, Samsung, OnePlus, Tommy Hilfiger, and Giva. Streaming content also thrived during the promotional period, with Prime Video debuting 17 new titles, including the much-anticipated Panchayat Season 4, which became the most-watched season of the series and trended in over 40 countries on its launch day. Prime Video content was accessed in more than 4,400 towns and cities across India. Amazon Pay usage surged, with over 50% of Prime Day shoppers opting for 'Amazon Pay Later' and a notable increase in customers utilizing the Amazon Pay ICICI bank credit card compared to the previous year. The company also reported a threefold increase in new Amazon Business customers and a sevenfold uptick in bulk orders during the event. Shashi Kumar from Akshayakalpa Organic noted the significant impact of the Prime Day event on their brand, citing a remarkable 50% sales growth due to effective marketing strategies and enhanced visibility tools. Eric Vas from Bajaj Auto highlighted the overwhelming success of their Chetak electric scooters, with the Chetak 3001 becoming the top-selling electric scooter during the event. Additionally, Arindam Paul from Atomberg celebrated unprecedented growth in their product sales, attributing this success to their partnership with Amazon. Karthik Balagopalan from PUMA India also reported strong consumer engagement and brand growth, emphasizing the positive impact of their collaboration with Amazon.
