Amazon says customers can keep using Anthropic's Claude on its cloud for non-defense workloads

In a recent announcement, Amazon confirmed that it will maintain access to Anthropic's artificial intelligence solutions for its cloud clientele, with the exception of projects linked to the Department of Defense. This decision follows a notification from the federal agency labeling Anthropic as a 'supply chain risk' on Thursday. In response, Anthropic has declared its intention to contest this designation legally, asserting that it has 'no choice' but to pursue this course of action. An Amazon Web Services (AWS) representative stated, 'AWS customers and partners can continue to utilize Claude for all workloads not associated with the Department of War (DoW).' Furthermore, the spokesperson added, 'For any DoW-related projects utilizing Anthropic technologies, we are committed to aiding our customers and partners as they transition to alternative solutions available on AWS.' This developing story is subject to updates as the situation evolves.
