For example, Shopify recently mandated that managers demonstrate that AI couldn't perform a job more effectively before hiring new staff, while Microsoft is having some managers assess employee performance based on their use of internal AI tools. Furthermore, Amazon's CEO Andy Jassy has indicated that AI could lead to workforce reductions due to enhanced efficiencies. Under the new guidelines, employees seeking promotions must detail their applications of generative AI or other technologies aimed at enhancing customer experiences or operational efficiency. They are also required to reference specific AI initiatives they've undertaken and their tangible outcomes. Management-level employees are similarly tasked with showing how they utilized AI to achieve greater results without increasing headcount.
