Alibaba to offer Nvidia’s physical AI development tools in its AI platform

In a significant strategic move, Alibaba has announced a partnership with Nvidia to incorporate the latter's advanced AI development tools into its Cloud Platform for AI. This collaboration comes shortly after Nvidia's major financial commitments in the tech industry, including a $5 billion investment in Intel and a substantial $100 billion stake in OpenAI. The integration will see Nvidia's Physical AI software stack utilized for various applications, including robotics, autonomous vehicles, and smart environments. This innovative technology enables the creation of 3D models of real-world settings, allowing for the generation of synthetic data essential for training AI systems. While the financial specifics of this partnership remain undisclosed, it represents a vital alliance between a leading chip manufacturer renowned for AI model training and a prominent developer of cloud services and AI models. This collaboration aligns with Alibaba's ongoing efforts to expand its AI capabilities in conjunction with its e-commerce operations. In a related announcement, Alibaba revealed plans to significantly increase its investment in AI technology, surpassing its previous budget of $50 billion. The company is also set to launch new data centers in Brazil, France, and the Netherlands, further extending its global data center footprint to 91 locations across 29 regions. Additionally, Alibaba introduced the latest version of its Qwen large language model family, named Qwen 3-Max. This model is touted as the company’s most advanced yet, boasting training on 1 trillion parameters and optimized for coding and other complex tasks.
