In a bid to turn the travel dreams showcased on social media into real-world adventures, AI startup Airial Travel has successfully secured $3 million in seed funding. The funding round, led by Montage Ventures, also saw contributions from South Park Commons and Peak XV. Airial aims to revolutionize the way travelers plan their trips by converting popular content from TikToks, Instagram Reels, and travel blogs into actionable travel itineraries. Users can personalize their plans by sharing their interests, budgets, and schedules, ensuring that the travel experiences they receive are tailored just for them. "Travelers today seek unique experiences rather than cookie-cutter trips," noted Sanjeev Shenoy, co-founder and CTO of Airial. He emphasizes the importance of customization and seamless planning as core aspects of their service. Airial, founded by Shenoy and Archit Karandikar—both former engineers at Meta and Waymo—has grown into a nine-member team based in San Francisco, with additional operations in India. Following a successful public beta launch last year, the company plans to release a mobile app in the third quarter. Karandikar explained that Airial employs advanced AI reasoning to tackle the complexities of trip planning, addressing various logistics such as selecting the nearest airports, accommodations, and optimal transport connections. Airial is among several startups aiming to disrupt the online travel agency landscape with AI technology, alongside competitors like Mindtrip and Layla. Notably, established companies such as Expedia are also teaming up with tech giants like OpenAI and Google to enhance their offerings. Looking ahead, Karandikar shared that Airial's strategy includes monetizing through hotel and flight bookings, advertising, and introducing premium AI features, as well as a creator program where influencers can market their curated itineraries. As Airial Travel embarks on its journey, the potential to reshape the travel planning sector seems promising, driven by a focus on user-centric solutions and innovative technology.
