Their relationship has evolved over the years, particularly as OpenAI gained prominence. In his advisory role, Chesky has provided counsel to Altman on managing the rapid growth of tech companies and was even considered for a position on OpenAI's board. His influence notably helped Altman regain his leadership position after a controversial dismissal from the company's board. However, now Chesky appears to be positioning himself in direct competition with OpenAI.
