Airbnb has unveiled an exciting new addition to its suite of services, launching a private car pick-up option that will be available in 125 cities globally. In collaboration with Welcome Pickups, a transportation company, Airbnb enables travelers to arrange personal car services in popular destinations such as Paris, Bali, and Mexico City. This initiative follows a successful pilot program conducted earlier this year in various European and Asian cities, where it garnered an impressive average rating of 4.96 from thousands of users. After booking accommodations in a participating city, guests will find an option to reserve a private car in the Trips section of the Airbnb app, allowing for seamless travel arrangements directly from their mobile device. Dave Stephenson, Airbnb's chief business officer, expressed enthusiasm for the new service, stating, "Airbnb Services are designed to enhance a guest’s stay, and our partnership with Welcome Pickups delivers that from the moment they arrive." The company has ambitious plans to broaden this service to additional cities throughout the year. Last summer, Airbnb introduced its services category, which includes options for booking chefs, catering, photography, and various wellness treatments across eight countries. In November, a partnership with Instacart was announced, enabling guests to order groceries for their stays in select U.S. cities. With the introduction of the private car service, Airbnb is positioning itself as a comprehensive travel platform, aiming to cater to every aspect of a guest's journey. CEO Brian Chesky highlighted the enormous potential in the hotel sector, suggesting that Airbnb could become a pivotal part of any trip, regardless of the type of accommodation guests choose.
