An internal analysis conducted by an Amazon employee utilizing an AI tool has identified various teams that may be impacted by the company's recent layoffs. The findings were shared in messages reviewed by Business Insider, revealing that Amazon plans to cut 16,000 corporate positions, though specific details on which teams will be affected remain undisclosed. The AI-generated list, created with the help of a tool named Pippin, is based on internal conversations within the company. However, it’s important to note that the information may not be entirely accurate, as highlighted by the employee who stated in their Slack message, “Please note that this info may not be 100% accurate. Take care, everyone!” Business Insider also conducted its own review of messages concerning the layoffs, focusing on various divisions, including the AI cloud service Bedrock and the Prime subscription service. This round of layoffs follows a previous reduction in October, where Amazon eliminated 14,000 roles. Currently, the company employs over 1.5 million individuals worldwide, with about 350,000 of those in corporate roles, making up a small percentage of its total workforce.
