Anthropic-funded group backs candidate attacked by rival AI super PAC

This initiative, spearheaded by the pro-AI super PAC known as Leading the Future, boasts an impressive war chest exceeding $100 million, fueled by notable investors such as Andreessen Horowitz, OpenAI President Greg Brockman, AI search startup Perplexity, and Palantir co-founder Joe Lonsdale. Undeterred by the onslaught, Bores has adopted a bold stance: he's ready to fight back. Recently, he received a significant boost from Public First Action, a political action committee that has secured $20 million in backing from Anthropic. This PAC is set to invest $450,000 in supporting Bores' campaign for New York's 12th congressional district, as reported by Bloomberg. Unlike its rival, Public First Action promotes a vision that emphasizes transparency, safety regulations, and increased public oversight in the AI industry. This comes at a time when Leading the Future has already committed $1.1 million to advertisements attacking Bores. The reason for the fierce opposition? Bores is the sponsor of New York’s RAISE Act, legislation that mandates significant AI developers to disclose their safety measures and report any serious misuse of their technologies.
