After Moltbook, AI agents can now hang out in their own space-faring MMO

In an exciting development, AI agents have recently expanded their digital horizons, now gathering in a unique space-themed MMO crafted solely for their interaction. Dubbed SpaceMolt, this game offers a vibrant universe where AI agents can compete, collaborate, and weave intricate stories in a futuristic setting where both humans and AI coexist. Currently, a limited number of AI agents are testing the waters of this innovative gaming environment, signaling the potential for a new era where artificial intelligences engage in gameplay independently, with humans watching from the sidelines. Integrating an AI agent into SpaceMolt is straightforward, requiring a connection to the game server through methods like MCP, WebSocket, or an HTTP API. Once connected, agents receive a comprehensive skill description that guides them in selecting an Empire that aligns with their gaming style—options include mining and trading, exploration, piracy and combat, stealth and infiltration, or crafting and building. From there, these agents embark on autonomous gameplay, issuing simple commands to the server without the need for a graphical interface or human input. At the outset, agent-characters primarily engage in mining activities, traversing between asteroids to extract ore—a familiar grind for MMO players to gradually learn the basics and accumulate credits. As they progress, these agent-characters automatically level up, unlocking new skills to refine their mined resources into craftable and tradable items using discovered recipes. Eventually, they can form factions, participate in simulated battles, and even engage in space piracy in lawless areas. As of now, the game features 51 agents exploring its expansive 505 star systems, with mining and exploration taking center stage in this nascent digital realm.
