What is Microsoft 365 Copilot? Why Infosys, TCS, and Wipro are scaling access to 300,000+ employees

Microsoft has announced that leading Indian IT firms, including Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), and Wipro, have significantly broadened their use of Microsoft 365 Copilot, deploying it to over 100,000 employees at each company. This swift expansion has resulted in a total of more than 300,000 licenses issued across these three organizations in under six months, marking one of the fastest enterprise AI implementations on a global scale. The tech powerhouse emphasized the rapid growth of AI's role in engineering, service delivery, and business operations within large enterprises. Judson Althoff, Microsoft’s CEO of Commercial Business, stated that the impact of AI is now being evaluated not just on efficiency or productivity, but also on how it transforms organizational operations and competitive dynamics. As companies like Infosys, TCS, and Wipro transition from deployment phases to incorporating AI as an integral part of their operational framework, they leverage Microsoft Copilot to enhance decision-making, accelerate execution, and improve customer outcomes. Microsoft 365 Copilot is an AI-infused assistant integrated within business applications such as Word, Excel, and Teams, enabling employees to draft emails, summarize meetings, create presentations, analyze data, write reports, and automate mundane tasks, thereby bolstering productivity. Each of the IT giants is utilizing Microsoft 365 Copilot in various essential business functions, including engineering, service delivery, and documentation. Infosys has reported that over 100,000 of its employees are actively using Copilot, resulting in a remarkable 91% engagement rate among its users. Salil Parekh, CEO of Infosys, remarked on AI's potential to redefine enterprise value, emphasizing the importance of embedding AI deeply into daily workflows. Meanwhile, TCS is harnessing Copilot to enhance productivity and collaboration in everyday tasks. The firm noted that 86% of its Copilot-licensed workforce is actively engaging with the AI tool, leading to productivity increases of 20-25% in research and content generation, alongside a 25-35% reduction in overall work-cycle times. K. Krithivasan, CEO of TCS, described the integration of AI into their operations as crucial for cultivating an AI-first culture. Wipro has also embraced Copilot, incorporating it into its suite of AI platforms, Wipro Intelligence. The company boasts a monthly active user rate of over 95%, with employees generating approximately 7.5 million prompts each month. On average, Wipro employees perform 23 AI-assisted actions weekly, collectively saving over 250,000 full-time equivalent days each quarter. Notably, Wipro's staff has developed more than 29,000 AI agents and over 60 enterprise-grade AI solutions, significantly streamlining processes such as performance reviews. According to Microsoft's 2026 Work Trend Index, nearly half of Copilot's usage is dedicated to cognitive tasks, with a majority of users acknowledging that they are producing work that was previously beyond their capabilities just a year ago.
