Spacetech startup Agnikul raises ₹150 cr to fuel 3D-printed rocket expansion, hits $500 mn valuation

Agnikul Cosmos, a trailblazing space-tech firm from India, has successfully secured ₹150 crore (approximately $17 million) in a recent funding round, lifting its valuation to $500 million. This funding round attracted notable participation from various family offices and prominent institutional investors including Advenza Global Limited, Atharva Green Ecotech LLP, HDFC Bank, Artha Select Fund, Prathithi Ventures, and 100X.VC. The capital raised will be invested in expanding production facilities for aerospace and rocket components, alongside advancements in their stage-recovery program. Additionally, part of the funds is designated for the development of an integrated space campus on a 350-acre site provided by the Tamil Nadu Government. This campus will serve as a hub for manufacturing and testing launch vehicle systems. Srinath Ravichandran, CEO and Co-founder of Agnikul Cosmos, expressed enthusiasm about the funding, noting, "Following our successful controlled ascent launch, which showcased our patented technologies with support from ISRO and IN-SPACe, we are now poised to enhance our strategy. This involves lower stage recovery and upper stage extension, essential for improving the economics of our launch services. This funding enables us to pursue these missions while scaling launch frequency and expanding our global footprint from India." The newly acquired funds will also bolster Agnikul’s reusable launch architecture, leveraging a recent patent that extends the operational lifespan of upper stages. This innovation is pivotal for achieving cost-effective orbital access and establishing the company as a leader in recoverable small-satellite launch vehicles. Moin SPM, Co-founder and COO of Agnikul, emphasized the growing demand for their services, stating, "With more than a dozen customers ready to launch with us, it’s imperative to enhance our operational capabilities. The new facility planned near India’s upcoming launchpad will enable us to meet these missions with the necessary responsiveness that the market demands." Arun Kumar, Managing Partner at Celesta Capital, remarked on Agnikul’s progress, noting, "Their innovative approach positions them uniquely to address the substantial unmet demand for low earth orbit satellites, both globally and domestically. Agnikul exemplifies the cutting-edge deep tech innovation emerging from India today." With a customer base that spans India, the Middle East, and Australia, Agnikul is well-prepared to cater to a globally distributed launch market, reinforcing India’s growing prominence in the space technology sector. Anirudh A Damani, Managing Partner of Artha Select Fund, highlighted the importance of Agnikul's innovations, stating, "Their commitment to developing unique technology, combined with disciplined execution, provides them with a significant competitive edge. This funding round reflects our belief in Agnikul’s pivotal role in the future of orbital access." The company also recently unveiled its Large Format Metal Additive Manufacturing Unit, which will expand its 3D printing capabilities beyond engines, paving the way for more efficient production processes across various subsystems.
