Agility Robotics plans to go public via SPAC in a $2.5B deal

Agility Robotics, a pioneering humanoid robotics firm that emerged from Oregon State University in 2015, is gearing up for a public debut through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC). This exciting development values Agility at approximately $2.5 billion. The merger is projected to yield over $620 million in proceeds, which includes around $200 million coming from a mix of new and existing institutional investors. Agility Robotics has garnered attention for its innovative bipedal robot, Digit, which is already operational at nine customer sites, collaborating with notable companies such as Schaeffler, GXO, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada, and Mercado Libre. With significant backing from major tech players like Amazon, Nvidia, and SoftBank Vision Fund 2, Agility now intends to leverage the funds raised from this SPAC merger to enhance the production capacity of its next-generation Digit v5. The company is also focused on fulfilling current orders and expanding its reach to new and existing clients. Agility has reported securing over $300 million in multi-year orders for the latest model and has a robust pipeline of more than 30 potential customers considering large-scale deployments. "Humanoid robots are set to become a vital component in driving productivity, bolstering supply chain resilience, and fostering American technological leadership," stated Agility CEO Peggy Johnson. She emphasized that the deployment of humanoid robots in real-world customer environments is already addressing labor shortages and enhancing operational efficiency. Upon completion of the merger, the newly formed entity is expected to trade under the ticker symbol AGLT, on a North American stock exchange yet to be disclosed.
