Afroman keeps trolling cops after winning “Lemon Pound Cake” defamation case

In a significant legal victory, Afroman emerged victorious in a defamation lawsuit brought against him by seven police officers. The case stemmed from the rapper's humorous music videos that ridiculed the officers following a 2022 raid on his home, which resulted in no charges and no marijuana being discovered. The videos for tracks such as 'Lemon Pound Cake,' 'Why You Disconnecting My Video Camera,' and 'Will You Help Me Repair My Door' incorporated real footage from the raid, including clips from security cameras and recordings made by Afroman's wife. The officers from the Adams County Sheriff's Office claimed they faced humiliation and even received death threats after the videos gained popularity online. Seeking damages up to $1.5 million for alleged defamation, the officers argued that Afroman's actions severely impacted their reputations. However, Afroman's attorney, David Osborne, asserted that this was fundamentally a First Amendment issue. During the trial, Afroman contended that the officers were solely responsible for the reputational harm they claimed, stating, 'If they hadn’t wrongly raided my house, there would be no lawsuit.' Tears of joy streamed down Afroman's face as the jury ruled in his favor on all counts after a brief deliberation. Expressing his relief, he said, 'I’m just happy.' Afroman described his decision to turn the raid into entertainment as a way of coping with the damage it caused, emphasizing, 'I had the right to talk about events going on in my life.' He expressed outrage over the officers' attempts to silence him, stating, 'I don’t go to their house, kick down their doors, flip them off on their surveillance cameras, then try to play the victim and sue them.'
