Adobe unveils AI assistant in Express to transform conversational design and content creation

Adobe has launched a beta version of its AI Assistant within Adobe Express, designed to facilitate rapid creation and editing of content. This innovative tool empowers users to transform their ideas into polished outputs in mere minutes. By simply describing their desired outcomes, users can move beyond conventional templates, as the AI Assistant offers tailored recommendations that align with their individual or brand style. The AI Assistant seamlessly integrates conversational workflows with traditional editing tools, allowing users to switch between guided creation and hands-on adjustments easily. This functionality includes editing design elements such as fonts, images, and backgrounds, all while maintaining the overall layout integrity. "The new AI Assistant in Adobe Express aims to redefine the creative process," stated Govind Balakrishnan, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Adobe Express. "By streamlining workflows and inspiring users, we are making high-quality content creation more accessible than ever." Built on an advanced platform, the AI Assistant connects with leading chatbot systems, giving users the flexibility to create content through conversation from any location. Additionally, Adobe introduced the Dev MCP Server for Adobe Express Add-ons, which will allow developers to create new features and integrations that enhance conversational workflows. This AI tool merges Adobe’s generative AI models with creative functionalities, allowing users to generate images, modify backgrounds, and swap out elements without needing to navigate complex toolsets. The assistant can even interpret abstract requests; for instance, a prompt like “Make this more tropical” would prompt it to replace mountains with lush greenery and adjust the color palette to match. The AI Assistant is designed to deliver professional-grade results through its unique features: it utilizes a blend of proprietary and external models to address both simple and intricate requests, integrates Adobe’s premier creative tools, applies design best practices, and understands what makes visual content impactful across various platforms. Moreover, Adobe is expanding the AI Assistant's capabilities to Express for Enterprise, allowing teams to create on-brand content using locked templates and collaborative tools. Workday previewed this enterprise functionality, highlighting that it will enable non-designers to produce high-quality visuals effortlessly. Sakura Martin from dentsu emphasized the excitement around making content creation as intuitive as having a conversation, while Lumen's Moria Fredrickson noted the potential for this AI to empower marketers who are less experienced in design to create fully realized layouts quickly. Currently, the AI Assistant (beta) is available on desktop for Adobe Express Premium users. Once fully launched, it will be accessible to all Express users through Firefly generative credits, with optional credit packs available for more extensive usage.
